Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of students from The King John School in Benfleet to Highview for a week of work experience.
Throughout the week the students had the opportunity to gain real insight into the construction industry by spending time across multiple departments within the business.
They joined our teams on site at Haggerston in London, Bedford Passage, Harlow and locations across our Riverside Framework, while also spending time in the office with departments including Quantity Surveying, Site Management, Divisional Management, Estimating, Buying and Marketing.
The aim was to give the students a broad understanding of the different career paths available within construction and help them begin thinking about their future ambitions.
We received some great feedback from the students:
“The day I spent with Terry was good because he taught us a lot about life and work and what it’s like to be a CEO. I would like to be a CEO like Terry one day.”
– Sam, King John Student
“The day I spent in Haggerston was good because I was shown how hot works work.”
– Ben, King John Student
“Learning about Quantity Surveying has made me realise this is something I want to do in life, and I enjoyed going out on site to see how it all works.”
– Lincoln, King John Student
It’s always rewarding to provide young people with hands-on experience and a real look at how the industry operates day-to-day. We hope this week has helped inspire the next generation of construction professionals.
A big thank you to everyone across the Highview team who took the time to support and mentor the students throughout the week.
