Highview Group was appointed to deliver the complete roofing package for Little Reddings Primary School, a net-zero carbon, timber-frame modular new build. The project required the installation of a Bauder Total Green Roof System, including a CTF bituminous waterproofing build-up and a fully integrated bio-solar PV mounting solution.
The roofing works consisted of installing a two-layer PIR insulation scheme (including tapered boards for drainage), Bauder waterproofing membranes, and a living green roof with Bauder’s floral seed mix. A 500mm fire break was constructed using Bauder ballast, and upstand flashings were mechanically fixed using ply rips, addressing the complexity of 1.1–1.6m high perimeter walls. The G-Light BioSolar PV system was introduced on this scheme, with Bauder providing on-site training and guidance to our operatives during installation.
One of the biggest challenges was the sequencing of roof deck availability, as the modular structure was delivered in phases from Europe.
Additionally, initial works began during winter, requiring significant drying of the timber deck before applying the primer and installing the vapour control layer using hot air guns and blowers—avoiding torch use on timber surfaces.
Despite working through winter and phased build constraints, the roofing works were delivered on programme and to manufacturer standards. Quality was upheld through daily supervision by our site manager, weekly inspections by the operations team and regular support from Bauder representatives.
Deliveries were managed via a booked portal system due to the operational school and residential location. Waste was cleared daily into scaffold-mounted skips and transferred by the client’s forklift.
The project was also a training ground for an apprentice roofer, who gained hands-on experience alongside our experienced team. Health and safety was closely monitored through daily RAMS compliance, PPE checks, and periodic audits by our SHEQ department.
