Replacement of 3 flat roofs and renewal of bell tower slate and lead
Highview were appointed to undertake the re-roofing of the slate Bell Tower and surrounding flat roofs at the Belvedere Restaurant, inside of the iconic Holland Park, London.
The bell tower roof was replaced using a natural slate which had to be cut to match the existing profile of the slates we were replacing. Prior to installing the slates, our lead workers carried out all new lead works to the, box gutter, cornice detailing, lead hips and barrel dormer. Flat roofing works were then also completed using a Moy Waterproofing System and included upgrading of the existing insulation to meet new building regs.
Being a heritage building, at every stage of the process we had to ensure that we stayed true to the original features of the building.
As well as the consideration of working near to park users/members of the public, the challenging road access restrictions and additional logistic considerations were further challenges caused by the nature of this public park setting.
A further challenge was the deadline of scaffold removal within time for a party being held for Prince Charles for his birthday.
